MAC (Media Access Control)
Media Access Control address (MAC address) is a quasi-unique identifier attached to most network adapters (NICs). It is a number that acts like a name for a particular network adapter.
 MAPI (Messaging Application Programming Interface)
Messaging Application Programming Interface is a messaging architecture and a Component Object Model based API for Microsoft Windows. MAPI allows client programs to become (electronic mail) messaging-enabled, -aware, or -based by calling MAPI subsystem routines that interface with certain messaging systems and message stores.
 Message Oriented Middleware (MOM)
MOM is a specific class of software, specifically, middleware, that operates on the principles of message queuing and/or message passing and is a popular method of integrating and connecting current business applications and legacy systems in heterogeneous environments. MOM lets users and developers interconnect code and data between systems or processes using consistently defined interfaces.
 Middleware
Middleware is computer software that connects software components or applications. It is used most often to support complex, distributed applications. It includes Web servers, application servers, content management systems, and similar tools that support application development and delivery. Middleware is especially integral to modern information technology based on XML, SOAP, Web services, and service-oriented architecture (SOA).
 Modem
A modem (from modulate and demodulate) is a device that modulates an analog carrier signal to encode digital information, and also demodulates such a carrier signal to decode the transmitted information. The goal is to produce a signal that can be transmitted easily and decoded to reproduce the original digital data. Modems can be used over any means of transmitting analog signals, from driven diodes to radio.
